A Nigerian man, Emmanuel Myam, also known as Emmiwuks, has arrived in Ghana after spending 10 days riding a bicycle from Lagos, Nigeria.
The 25-year-old adventurer began his journey on July 1 and has already passed through Benin Republic and Togo before landing in Ghana.
According to Emmiwuks, who hails from Benue State, his journey is aimed at drawing attention to the struggles of orphaned and displaced children across Africa. He described it as a mission of hope, not just a personal challenge.
While celebrating his arrival in Ghana on Wednesday, Emmiwuks wrote on Instagram, “Day 10 Project NIG2USA. Welcome to Ghana. The land of warmth, rhythm, and strength. A new country, a new chapter, same mission, raising a voice for the displaced and the forgotten across Africa. Ghana, let’s ride this journey together. From Nigeria to the world, the movement is alive. Naija no dey carry last.”
In 2022, Emmiwuks cycled from Makurdi to Lagos to meet singer Davido. That adventure brought him public attention and made headlines.
He explained that a near-death experience in 2023 pushed him to take on this new mission.
Earlier in the trip, he visited an orphanage in Benin Republic and used part of the donations he received to support children there.
“Today, I visited an orphanage here in Benin with my little support and it touched me deeply,” he said. “Seeing those children reminded me of the displaced people in my dear country and across Africa, suffering in silence because of insecurity. This journey isn’t just about cycling, it’s about giving them a voice. Every ride, every mile, is for them. But I can’t do it alone. Lend your voice. Share the story. Let’s ride this together. Stay strong kids, I will be back for you soon.”
Emmiwuks is expected to continue his journey across several countries as he pedals toward his dream destination, the United States.
