Davido Talks About The Global Appeal of Afrobeats
Afrobeat sensation Davido has spoken about the global appeal of Afrobeats, his genre of music, and why he believes soon afrobeat will rule the world of music.
Davido revealed this in an interview with ABC News, he said, “Although I feel my style is that of the Western world, like American hip-hop, my music is 80% African culture” I grew up listening to hip-hop like 13, 14, years then, when you have the likes of Dbanj, P-Square, Tuface, I used to love 50-cent, Ja rule, Ludacris’’
Reeling from his success at the Trace award, he shared a comment on his “X” page acknowledging the way Afrobeats have changed the world, Davido who recently welcomed twins wrote;
“Seeing the way Afrobeats have changed the world and the impact we’ve had in music is beautiful! To see how respected and cherished our culture has become makes me so proud. Let’s make sure we protect it and keep building a borderless music world @abcnews”

Afrobeats and Nigerian music’s success globally show the talent and creativity of Nigerian artists. They used technology, worked with international artists, and influenced culture to make Afrobeats famous worldwide.
There is no denying the fact that Nigerian music’s catchy rhythms and lively melodies bring people together and make them love African music more. And with the likes of Davido, Rema, Wizkid, and the rest, it is a matter of when and not if Afrobeat will rule the world of music.
