Popular TV host, Frank Edoho, has revealed that rumours accusing him of domestic violence nearly cost him his job as the host of the widely-loved game show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Edoho said the allegations reached the show’s sponsors and put his career at risk.

The broadcaster described the marriage as a “mismatch” while admitting that both he and his ex-wife were unprepared for the realities of marriage.

“My ex-wife was my friend, and there were children involved. I think ours was a mismatch; I was young. When she got pregnant, I had cold feet, but I still got married,” he explained.

Edoho, who became a household name for his charismatic presence on the game show, recounted how their marriage began to unravel as early as 2007, though it officially ended in 2010.

He described that period as one of the toughest in his life. “To be honest, I was very depressed, but I couldn’t say anything,” he admitted.

After their separation, rumours started circulating, falsely branding him a wife-beater. Edoho recalled receiving a call from his boss while he was in the UK, informing him that the sponsors were considering removing him from the show due to the allegations. “They said I wasn’t going to present this show anymore because of those rumours. I got on a flight the next morning to attend a meeting with them,” he shared.

Edoho said during the meeting, he presented evidence to clear his name. “By the time I reached marriage and the birth of my son and first daughter, two of the ladies were crying,” he said.

Edoho stated that he was the one who chose to leave the marriage, rejecting all allegations of domestic violence. “Nobody divorced me; I took my suitcase and left,” he affirmed.
