Singer Alexander Adegbola Akande, better known as 9ice, has revealed that he once battled a spiritual attack that left him vomiting blood for six months.

The 45-year-old ‘Gongo Aso’ crooner made this known during a recent episode of The Nancy Isime Show, which aired on Saturday.

When asked by Isime if he had faced spiritual battles in his music career, 9ice replied, “Several times.” On the particular incident that shook him the most, he said, “When I was vomiting blood for about six months in my own house. I had to leave my house. It happened in 2009/2010. It wasn’t a medical condition.”

On how he now protects himself, the singer said, “I’m not a Christian or a Muslim, I’m a Babalawo. I’m an African. I’m a traditionalist. The first time I experienced ifa was when I was vomiting blood. Someone referred me to ifa. I just wished that I had known ifa at the beginning. Fela used to go to Ogun and people were mocking him, but now, I understand.”

9ice, known for his Yoruba-infused lyrics and proverbial style, urged Africans to embrace traditional religions, saying it connects them to their heritage and identity.
