I will die on Sunday after General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has spoken publicly about his personal vision of how his life will end, stating that he believes he will die peacefully on a Sunday after church service.
Pastor Adeboye made the statement while addressing thousands of worshippers on the fourth day of the RCCG’s ongoing International Convention, held at the church’s Redemption Camp along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The convention, themed “The Overcomers”, continues to draw large crowds from across Nigeria and beyond.
In a sermon titled “Possess Your Possessions”, the 82-year-old cleric reflected on what he described as a divine revelation about the manner of his passing.
“I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness,” Adeboye said. He noted that this was not the first time he had shared the vision, having previously mentioned it two years ago.
According to him, the purpose of repeating the statement was to illustrate that death does not always have to come through prolonged illness or suffering. “Death can come peacefully,” he said.
While the statement drew audible reactions from the congregation, Pastor Adeboye continued his sermon by urging Christians to lay hold of their spiritual inheritance and resist forces that try to rob them of it. Using biblical references, he emphasized the need for believers to claim healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, and long life as part of their covenant in Christ.
He said, “Your greatest friend, Jesus Christ, paid a great price to purchase your healing. Yet, there is a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy.” Citing John 10:10, he warned that Christians must actively resist such spiritual opposition through faith.
