Celebrity bartender, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has backed his friend, Emeka Okonkwo, also called E-Money, after his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

E-Money was arrested on Monday night at his Omole residence in Lagos for allegedly abusing the Naira and spraying U.S. dollars at a public event, violating the Foreign Exchange Act.

According to EFCC sources, E-Money was picked up for spraying dollars, an offence under Nigerian law.

Reacting on Instagram on Tuesday, Cubana Chief Priest hailed E-Money’s contributions to the South-East and accused unnamed forces of trying to silence him.

He wrote: “This is a guy who just did everything to push up Southeast with his just concluded Home Coming Concert this Easter. I knew they will come for him because they just saw his strength. They are doing this so they could break him so as to make him succumb in supporting them under duress.”

He added: “It’s nothing, brother. I have been there. It will make you stronger. It’s just like our Rolls Royce—na location for the rich and famous, na status symbol.”

Cubana Chief Priest was previously arraigned in April 2024 for alleged Naira abuse after spraying money at Eko Hotel, Lagos. He pleaded not guilty and was later discharged after a settlement.

As of press time, EFCC had yet to issue an official statement on E-Money’s case.
