Media personality, Toke Makinwa, has said that becoming a mother is helping her recover from childhood trauma and painful experiences she thought she had dealt with.

The 40-year-old disclosed this in a post on X on Sunday, noting that her daughter, Yakira Eliana, whom she welcomed in August 2025, has been a source of daily healing.

She wrote, “My daughter brought me healing, she is daily healing parts of me I didn’t even know needed healing, healing from my childhood trauma, from grief I thought I had dealt with a long time ago. Maybe God knew I needed this.”

Makinwa, an actress and author of “On Becoming”, lost her parents in a gas explosion when she was eight years old, a tragedy she has often described as one of the most painful moments of her life.

She also went through a public divorce from fitness coach, Maje Ayida, in 2017 after three years of marriage.
The On Air Personality, however, said motherhood has given her a new perspective and is helping her mend old wounds.
