Pastor Adeboye is 30th most talked-about African in 2024
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has been named the 30th most talked-about African in 2024, according to the list by The Social Chart.
The revered cleric known for his influential sermons is the only pastor or religious leader to make the list of the most talked about Africans of 2024.
Adeboye’s 2024 inclusion is shrouded in controversy, rather than his popularity, with some suggesting his inclusion may be about his controversial sermon about tithes, where he allegedly said, ‘If you don’t pay tithes you don’t have a place in heaven’ he has soon apologised for it, saying he was quoted out of context.
Adeboye made the list alongside 29 other notable Africans who dominated online conversations throughout the year.
He joins the list of top ranking Nigerians which includes, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Labour Party presidential candidate for 2023, Peter Obi, and Business mogul Aliko Dangote.
The ranking covers data from January 1 to November 3, 2024, using advanced social media tracking and Google Analytics to identify key personalities.
The annual list shows the people shaping discussions and driving influence in Africa, his inclusion therefore is not a surprise to many people.
