President Buhari Will Get Final Details Of 2016 Budget This Week: Says Legislator
A member of the House of Representatives, representing Agege Federal Constituency of Lagos state, Taofeek Adaranijo, has said that the full details of 2016 budget will be sent to president Muhammadu Buhari for assent before the end of this week.
Adaranijo who made this disclosure on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, after inspecting some projects in the state, noted that the said delay was caused by lapses identified in the budget, stating that as responsible parliamentarians, it is needful to sort out lapses first, before any other action can be taken.
Meanwhile, president Buhari had refused to sign the budget which was passed on March 24, owing to the fact that the National Assembly failed to send full details of the N6.06 Trillion harmonised budget passed by the two chambers.
Hence, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin said that there’s nothing wrong with the president signing the budget without knowing the final details.
However, Mr Adaranijo said that the Senate and House of Representatives’ committees on appropriation have been working together to ensure that the president gets the full details of the budget before the end of the week.
