As the race for the 2023 general elections in Nigeria begins, the former Managing Director of Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Chief Robert Orya, has signified interest to become the next Benue State governor under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Orya promised to use short, medium, and long-term measures to transform Benue and create a state that could fulfill its potentials.

He made the pledge in Makurdi, the Benue State capital while unveiling his aspiration.

Orya said he would turn around the state’s socio-economic speres.

He said: “I have a very strong passion for strategic organisational restructuring and turnaround management initiatives towards producing superior returns to stakeholders and creating developmental impacts to the economy. I have already crafted a comprehensive transformation blueprint, tagged, The Benue Expensive Transformation Strategy, that would ensure Benue succeeds by design and not by accident.”

He pledged to pay more attention to job and wealth creation, accelerated industrialisation, sustenance of social harmony, massive investment in innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship.

“Benue is endowed with the absolute determination of its current crop of young and energetic citizens, who are desperately yearning to see a transformed state that could provide for its citizens,” he said.
