The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commended Lagos State officials and pilgrims for their exemplary conduct during the 2026 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The commendation was given on Thursday by the South-West National Commissioner, Dr. Tajudeen Abefe Oladejo, during an official visit to the Lagos State tent in Mina.

Oladejo, who led the NAHCON delegation, said the commission was impressed with the way officials and pilgrims had conducted themselves. He urged them to maintain the standard until the end of the spiritual exercise.

He also cautioned pilgrims against carrying excessive luggage on the homebound journey. He advised them to limit themselves to the two 23 kg bags and one eight kilogrammes hand luggage provided, aside from avoiding packing prohibited items such as water, juice and other liquids.

Responding, the Lagos State Amir-ul-Hajj and Commissioner for Home Affairs, Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, thanked NAHCON for the commendation. He added that the state would, at the appropriate time, meet with NAHCON to discuss areas that require urgent improvement ahead of the 2027 Hajj operation.

Meanwhile, the pilgrims are scheduled to leave Mina for Makkah today, where they will remain until the commencement of their homebound journey on June 6, 2026.
