The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed strong optimism that Akwa Ibom State will emerge as the highest vote contributor for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the South-South geopolitical zone in the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio made the remarks on Tuesday in Uyo during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held at the Government House, as Governor Umo Eno continues consultations ahead of his 2027 re-election bid.
According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, the Senate President praised Governor Eno’s leadership style, describing him as a unifying and peace-driven leader whose governance approach has strengthened political stability in the state.
He said the governor’s inclusive politics and calm disposition had created a favourable atmosphere for development and political cooperation.
“The event today reflects the character of Governor Umo Eno as a peaceful leader, a man of God in words and deeds. His ability to carry everyone along gives us confidence that Akwa Ibom will deliver the highest number of votes in the South-South for President Tinubu,” Akpabio stated.
He commended the governor for what he described as visible progress in infrastructure and governance, noting that projects across the state were being completed and commissioned, including the revival of previously abandoned developments.
Akpabio also applauded the commencement of international flight operations at the Victor Attah International Airport, calling it a major boost for the state’s economy and regional connectivity.
“If you move around the state, you will see clear evidence of governance. Projects are being executed, completed, and delivered for the benefit of the people,” he added.
The Senate President further stated that Akwa Ibom remains grateful to President Tinubu for supporting one of its sons to occupy the office of Senate President, adding that the state would demonstrate its appreciation through strong political support in the 2027 elections.
He expressed confidence that the ongoing political engagements in the state would further deepen unity and strengthen the APC’s electoral prospects in the region ahead of the polls.
