The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential campaign council has sought the Qadiriyya group’s, one of the largest Islamic sects in Nigeria, support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu in 2027.

Director-General of the presidential campaign council, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari made the appeal Sunday evening when the campaign train visited the spiritual leader of the sect, Khalifa Sheikh Qaribullah Nasiru Kabara in Kano.

Sen. Yari disclosed the first visit of the council to Kano was part of the party’s wider consultation with Islamic scholars and leaders prior to its full blown campaign for Tinubu’s second term in office.

Yari, representing Zamfara West Senatorial district, told journalists’ that the council is preparing to issue based campaign while Nigerians are also eager to hear why they should votes for President Tinubu again.

He however maintained the council has chosen to set aside visits to religious leaders across the country prior to the commencement of rallies as mark of dignity. Yari hinted the council’s campaign train landed in Kano after similarly visits to religious leaders in Jos, Bauchi and Kaduna states.

According to him, ” We have actually prepared for the 2027 general elections campaign but we have decided to prioritise town hall meetings and direct engagement with Nigerians before the large-scale rallies.

“We are aware that many Nigerians are eager to hear from us. For this reason, rather than commencing with full-scale campaign rallies, we have chosen to respect the citizens and meet them face-to-face through town hall meetings.

“The decision was part of the reason we are in Kano to seek the blessings and spiritual guidance of the Sheikh Qaribullah. We were in Bauchi, Jos and Kaduna, and now we are in Kano.

“We have met with the Izala and Tijjaniyya communities, and now we are meeting with the Qadiriyya sect because we believe that Allah’s guidance in everything is the first thing one requires,” Yari said.

Dwelling on the state of Nigerian economy under present administration, the DG campaign pointed at the the effort of President Tinubu in calibrating stable foreign exchange against the increasing volatility he met the economy.

Yari also highlighted major infrastructure projects across northern Nigeria, citing the Kano–Maradi–Zinder railway, Kano–Kaduna–Abuja railway, Kano–Kaduna–Abuja road and the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) gas pipeline projects, being undertaking under Tinubu’s administration.

The Senator asserted that all the ongoing projects being undertaking, among other developmental initiatives in Northern region were parts of the reasons why people in the region must vote for Tinubu’s continuity.

“ With the efforts of the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, prices have truly stabilised, while the dollar is not only available but its exchange rate is no longer moving upwards in a crazy manner.

“Take, for instance, the Kano–Maradi–Zinder railway project. This project, as well as the Kano–Kaduna–Abuja railway line, the Kano–Kaduna–Abuja road projects and the AKK has pipeline project, are all to be completed before next year”. Yari said.

Earlier, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by his deputy, Alh. Murtala Sule Garo assured the Presidential campaign council that Kano is fully ready to support the reelection of President Ahmad Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Garo, said Kano residents would be willing to reciprocate the tremendous benefits and good governance offer under the APC Federal government by galvanizing their massive votes for the President.

While receiving the Presidential campaign council, Sheikh Kabara pledged the support of the sect for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The Qadiriyya leader declared that President Tinubu’s trust on Sen. Yari to lead his reelection campaign alone has secured the confidence of the sect to support the president’s return of Aso-Rock in 2027.

In his words, “For over 20 years, we have been together with AbdulAziz Yari, and he has openly supported this house. So, he is one of us, and whatever he comes with, we have no option but to support it.

“The Qadiriyya sect is not just supporting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; we are doing so because we also know that he has a good mission for Nigeria. We believe that, as Ulama, with prayers, Nigeria under his leadership would be great,” he added.

The cleric said the Qadiriyya community would commence prayers for the country, with emphasis on peace, economic revival, employment opportunities for youths and an end to insecurity.

Yari, was accompanied during the visit by other members of the council, include former Lagos State Commissioner, James Faleke, former Borno State Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari, Senator Adamu Aleiro and other political leaders, said the delegation highly respected religious leaders
