28 people who were kidnapped during a church service in in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday, May 7, 2023 have been set free by their abductors.

40 worshippers were abducted among whom were children and women but 28 of them have been released.

An executive member of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said that 11 of the victims were released on Wednesday night, according to a Channels TV report.

They were kidnapped by armed bandits during a church service last Sunday and taken to an unknown destination within Kaduna State.

The CAN source disclosed that 17 more victims regained their freedom by Thursday while 12 others are still in captivity.

The source did not disclose if any amount of money was paid as ransom to the bandits before the victims regained their freedom.
