The 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos, has launched Operation “Egwu Eke III” code-named the Python Dance to tackle the country’s security challenges ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The operation, with headquarters in Plateau State, is expected to cover Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba states.
 
Speaking during the flag-off of the exercise at the Rafiki village in Dutse Kura, Bassa Local Council of Plateau State, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major-General Nuhu Angbazo, said: “The exercise is in line with the Army headquarters’ directives and it is aimed at reassuring the general public of the Federal Government’s commitment at protecting lives and property during and after the 2019 general elections.
 
“The exercise, which is to be conducted simultaneously across the country, began in December 28, 2018 to en February 28, 2019, is to combat prevailing security challenges.

In response, the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, who was represented by his Commissioner for Mineral Development, Ezekiel Daju, described the exercise as timely, hoping it would ensure peace, not only in Plateau but also in country at large.
