Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum and his Gombe state counterpart, Muhammadu Yahaya, have commissioned an 86-kulomatre road and bridge capital projects in Gombe, the state capital.
The various capital projects inaugurated on Sunday 4 October 2026 include Zulum commissioned the projects on Sunday, October 4, 2026, the 41-kilometre Shango-Sarkin Yaki-Abuja/Bula-Bomala-Dinawa-Alagarno-Kalajanga-Tappi roads in the Kwami Local Government Area of the state.
The completed roads tagged: “Network 1,1000 ” will serves various communities along the Gombe-Tappi corridor and terminates at Tappi on the Gombe-Kano highway.
Zulum disclosed that the improved and expanded road connectivity would boost agricultural and livestock production, and strengthen people’s livelihoods in communities along the corridor.
“Construction of roads connecting cities to rural communities will no doubt expand farming opportunities,” said Zulum.
He also commissioned the 30-kilometre Kwanan Gerkwami-Tsangayari-Gerkwami-Daniya-Daban Fulani Road.
Another 15-kilometre Kurba-Titi-Tsangayari Road, with a spur to Kundulum, was also commissioned.
Other commissioned capital projects include the three-span Titi-Kurba Bridge, bringing the total length of newly commissioned roads to more than 86 kilometres.
Zulum said the projects will also improve commuting between rural communities, farms, markets and other economic centres.
He commended Inuwa Yahaya for the scale up of infrastructures delivered under the road network programme.
Zulum said he had witnessed the projects personally after previously being unaware of the extent of development across Gombe.
He urged Gombe residents to recognise the administration’s efforts to expand infrastructure and economic opportunities.
Yahaya said the commissioned roads were designed to connect communities and unlock economic activities along the corridors.
The governor said the projects form part of sustained investment in critical infrastructure across Gombe’s 11 local government areas.
Yahata said the Network-1,100 programme targets approximately 1,100 kilometres of roads across the state.
The governor said more than 1,000 kilometres of toads had been constructed as his administration entered the final phase of its tenure in office.
He said the expanded network would improve movement of people and agricultural produce while widening access to markets and other services and economic centres in the state
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Danladi Adamu, provided the technical details of the road projects at the commissioning sires.
The road and bridge projects were completed by the Gombe State Government as part of its wider road infrastructure program
