37-year-old bomb expert nabbed in Taraba

Taraba State Police Command, yesterday, paraded a 37- year-old bomb expert, Bala Usman, who was arrested in Tella town of Gassol Local Council of the state.

  
The state commissioner of police, Abimbola Shokoya, who paraded the suspect at the Police Headquarters in the state, said he was arrested in collaboration with vigilantes in the area, while a search conducted on his premises led to the recovery of several items.
   
He said the suspect was arrested with a pistol scorpion loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition, while his attempt to kill one Usman Yaki was foiled.
     
The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to deploying both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches in tackling crime and criminality in the state.
  
According to the Commissioner,  the suspect confessed to being a member of Boko Haram,  while items recovered from him, include; 198 pieces of 7.6mm live ammunition,  558 assault live ammunition, and one pistol breech No.Cz 999 scorpion with side rounds of ammunition, as items recovered from his house.
 
Others are 20 plastic bottles of sodium azide acid, 8 plastic of Kermi acid, 27 plastic bottles of the locally made bombs, three face masks, three pullover jackets, a bunch of cable wire, 36 lighters and two empty magazines of Ak47 rifle and assault rifle.
 
The suspect was also said to have confessed to having been a gang member of armed robbers and kidnappers that have been terrorising Niger, Kogi and Taraba states.
 
 
Concerted efforts to track down his accomplices,  whose names were given as Abubakar Lawal and Abdullahi Garba, the Commissioner said, are in top gear.
   
He urged residents to always reach out to the Command with useful information, adding that the Command will leave no stone unturned in its quest to flush out the undesirable elements from the state.
   
Answering questions from newsmen, the suspect confessed to having been involved in all the allegations levelled against him by the police.
