Forty-six-year-old Uber driver, Andrew Okhulegbe, is in need of N6 million for open-heart surgery. Okhulegbe has been battling the ailment since February 18 2022.
Initially, he was taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) where he was diagnosed with Acute Myocardial Infarction.
He, however, had a four-day history of left-sided chest pains. It spread to his jaw, which was associated with vomiting and diaphoresis.
A histologic report obtained by The Guardian further revealed that he had cardiac catheterisation on the same date. According to a medical report by Tristate Hospital, Okhulegbe will need a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft to heal (CABG).
Before the diagnosis, the driver was said to be active and dedicated to his job, as the breadwinner for his family, including his wife and children.
In his appeal to Nigerians, he said: “My children are young and cannot continue life without me. Nigerians should come to my aid and save my life.
When The Guardian reached out to the Medical Officer, Tristate Hospital, Dr. Ogechukwu Ogbonnaya, he said: “Mr. Andrew is our patient. When he came in, we conducted a test and discovered that his heart has a problem but he needs money urgently to do that because it’s not something that should be delayed.
“It is something we can do in our hospital. Our hospital is a cardiac hospital and we do open-heart surgery.” Helps could be extended to Okhulegbe through First Bank account Number: 3194444223, Name: Okhuelegbe Andrew Paul, while Dr. Ogbonnaya can be reached on 09033405987
