No fewer than 500 religious leaders cutting across faiths and ethnicity have assembled in Abuja a 40-day prayer and fasting programme organised by The National Interfaith and Religious Organisations for Peace (NIFROP).

A Co-Convener of the prayer session, Sheik Ahmad Jibrin, who disclosed this yesterday in Abuja, said the 500 clerics were drawn from all parts of Nigeria in solidarity with the initiative to pray and fast for the unity of Nigeria at this point of its existence.

“We have come to the end of the programme designed by NIFROP to pray and fast for Nigeria for God to unite Nigerians in our quest for national unity.”

“It was a huge success in that Nigerians from all ethnic and religious affiliations gathered and prayed in one voice for God’s intervention against the evil plot by enemies of Nigeria to disintegrate the country.”
