Christian stakeholders in Oyo Central have declared support for APM candidates Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo (in white attire) and Governor Seyi Makinde ahead of the 2027 elections.

A group of Christian stakeholders in Oyo Central Senatorial District has declared support for the senatorial ambition of Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during a meeting between Ajadi, who is running on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and Christian leaders from the district.

Participants also expressed support for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is the APM’s presidential candidate, and Bimbo Adekanmbi.

The gathering formed part of Ajadi’s engagement with religious and community stakeholders as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather attention.

Speaking at the meeting, Bishop Ademola Moradeyo, the Chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Christian Wing, said the stakeholders had agreed to support the candidates presented to them as members of the same political family.

Moradeyo explained that their position was not limited to Ajadi’s senatorial ambition but extended to other political figures named in the endorsement.

According to him, the stakeholders considered collective support important because the candidates were pursuing political objectives within what he described as a common platform.

He urged those present to approach the forthcoming elections with a shared understanding of the candidates’ aspirations.

Another participant, Pastor Johnson Olabode, said the decision to support Ajadi was informed by his relationship with members of the Christian community and his previous activities.

Olabode also identified the need for younger political representation as a consideration in the stakeholders’ assessment of the senatorial aspirant.

He described Ajadi as someone with longstanding connections to the church and said his background provided grounds for supporting his political ambition.

According to Olabode, the district would benefit from political representation that reflected the aspirations of younger residents.

He maintained that Ajadi’s previous engagements and relationship with community members were relevant to his suitability for public office.

Addressing the gathering, Ajadi recalled his involvement with the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Agbara, Oluwatedo, during his younger years.

He said he spent seven years participating in church activities, including evangelism and outreach programmes.

According to him, those experiences formed part of his relationship with the Christian community.

Ajadi used the occasion to discuss his religious background while assuring participants that his political responsibilities, if elected, would extend to residents of different faiths.

“I am going to represent all Christians, Muslims and members of other faiths without bias or misrepresentation,” he said.

His remarks placed emphasis on religious inclusion in a district with residents from different religious and social backgrounds.

Although the meeting was organised around engagement with Christian stakeholders, Ajadi said his intended representation would not be restricted to members of the faith.

The gathering also featured prayers for Ajadi’s political ambition.

Pastor Popoola Isaac Olusola led a prayer session in which he sought divine guidance and success for the aspirant.

The prayer followed Ajadi’s address to the participants and formed part of the meeting’s religious activities.
