Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) has repatriated the sum of $700 million stolen funds and proceeds of corruption concealed in foreign accounts.
Besides, the commission also disclosed that a total sum of N7.3 billion had been recovered from abandoned projects in local council areas in the Northeastern region of the country.
ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, made the disclosure yesterday during a one-day media dialogue with practitioners from the North-West and North-West in Kano.
The ICPC boss explained that the dialogue with the media was part of a critical task of the commission to strengthen partnership in tackling corruption in the Northeast and Northwest regions.
MEANWHILE, the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria has said the challenges of corruption, institutional weakness, and regulatory uncertainty affecting the country must be adequately tackled for Nigeria to attain optimal prosperity.
The institute said the future of Nigeria’s governance relies not only on new frameworks or technologies but also on leaders who demonstrate integrity, fairness, and accountability, not just as slogans but as genuine principles.
