Abia State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), yesterday, paraded six men suspected to be illegal dealers in petroleum products.The State Commander, Mr. Paul Igwebuike, has said that the suspects were arrested by the NSCDC Operatives at Gass Line, by Iheoma, Uratta, Aba, following a tip-off from informants, adding that the truck allegedly used for the illegal business was also impounded.

 
Worried that the activities of the illegal dealers of petroleum products and their partners in crime constitute economic sabotage hence they must not be allowed to foster, the commandant said.
   
“We are fully poised to carry out the corps’ mandates and the zero-tolerance directives of the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi against all forms of illegal dealings in petroleum products and vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure of government.”
 
He listed the items recovered from the suspects as a truck with the registration number, SSM 839 XA and about 42 drums of petroleum products suspected to be crude Oil.
  
Praising his operatives for their gallantry and professionalism which he said enabled the successful arrest of the suspects, the state NSCDC boss said that parading the suspects is a strong warning to criminal elements in the state to either turn a new leaf or consider leaving the state as his command will stop at nothing in its resolve to checkmate their unwholesome activities.
 
While he commended the general public for their support through the provision of timely information, re-assuring them that information given to his Command shall be treated with the utmost confidentiality. He said that the arrested suspects would be charged to court, after necessary investigations.
