Lawmaker representing Ado/ Okpokwu/ Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, Philip Agbese (APC- Benue), has hailed the 10th House of Representatives under the leadership of the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, for amending the 2023 Appropriation Act.
Agbese, speaking to newsmen after Thursday’s plenary, says the Green Chamber now has a human face with its people-oriented legislation.
The lawmaker was reacting to the passage of President Bola Tinubu’s N500bn request for palliatives to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.
According to Agbese, the speedy assent of this request shows that the House is very much on the side of the masses who are directly affected by the policy.
Describing the Speaker as humane and a friend of Nigerians, the Benue parliamentarian added that Abbas is in tune with the realities on ground and has the necessary tools to surmount them.
He said the Speaker has already shown a deep knowledge of contemporary Nigerian society and will go the extra mile to put smiles on the faces of citizens.
“History was made today. Under the amiable leadership of Abbas, the House of Representatives has granted the N500bn request by the President to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal,” he said.
“I call it historic because we now have a parliament that understands the plights of Nigerians and has put a human face to leadership. The speedy assent of the request shows that we are on the side of the masses. It is unprecedented.
“This is possible due to the compassionate, humane, and kind nature of the Speaker. Abbas is all about the interests of Nigerians and will go the extra mile to put smiles on their faces.
“As I have always said, this is a new era. Nigerians should be optimistic. All we need now is their prayers and support. The 10th House of Assembly means business.”ing, and shipping to Lagos, takes six days.”
