Abductors release kidnapped PDP chieftain in Ekiti
A kidnapped chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Kayode Oni, has regained his freedom.
Unknown gunmen had last week, kidnapped Oni, who is the Financial Secretary of the party.
He was abducted on Saturday at a location between Efon and Erio on his way to Aramoko, the headquarters of Ekiti West Local Government Area.
The PDP chieftain was returning from Efon where he had officiated at the party’s local government congress.
Oni’s abductors reportedly contacted family members and demanded a ransom of N30 million.
The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Jackson Adebayo confirmed the release yesterday.
Adebayo disclosed that Oni was set free by his abductors on Tuesday night.
He was however silent on whether the party, or the victim’s family paid any ransom before he was released.
