The Personal Assistant to Kogi state Governor, Momoh Abdullasis, has beckoned on the youths in the state to shun violence during the 2023 elections.
Abdullasis stressed the importance of the upcoming elections to Nigeria, adding that it will take the collective efforts of citizens to elect the right leaders.
While commending the youths in their increase in political participation, Abdullasis also advised the youths to use their social media platforms to promote healthy election campaigns only and avoid slander and libel, which may in turn generate violence amongst loyalists.
“The long trend of youth involvement in political thuggery should not continue in 2023. Violence has never gotten us anywhere, the only way is by our PVC’s. Causing harm and violence, ballot box snatching, and other electoral vices are against the law and defaulters will face the full wrath of the law.
“Personal responsibility is a more valuable position than any political grievance,” he said.
In the timetable for the 2023 general elections released by INEC, the dates for the Presidential and National Assembly elections are slated for February 25, 2023, while Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will hold on March 11 respectively.
