Abia approves N150m aid for re-located traders
Abia State Executive Council (SEC) has approved N150 million to support traders that were relocated from Ariaria International Market and Ahia Ohuru Market, both in Aba, through Abia SME Bank.
The immediate past Commissioner for Information, Chief John Kalu, announced this in a statement, on Tuesday, before his re-assignment to the Ministry of Trade and Commerce in a major cabinet re-jig that brought in 27 new commissioners
It also directed the contractor handling the Ntigha Dry Port to expedite work on the project, as well as relocation of street beggars to existing homes with skill acquisition and primary education facilities.
He said the SEC further directed the re-modelling of Mother and Child Specialist Hospital, Umuahia. Work at the Abia State Automated Garment factory, Aba, is expected to be in top gear, for the factory, with capacity for more than 500 new jobs, to take off in December 2021.
SEC approved further release of funds for the new Government House project in Umuahia to ensure its realisation as scheduled. The former commissioner added that the council expressed satisfaction with the procurement of four new purpose-built mobile clinics with facilities for childcare, ultra sound and full theatre units.
