Abia monarchs adopt Ikpeazu as sole guber candidate
Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, yesterday, adopted the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, seeking reelection for second term, as the state’s sole guber candidate for 2019 election.
Chairman, Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Eberechi Dick, said they took the resolution based on the fact that Ikpeazu’s predecessors, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu and Theodore Orji, who hailed from Abia North and Abia Central zones of the state, held the office for two terms of eight years each.
In the communiqué signed by 20 traditional rulers, they said they adopted the resolution at a general meeting of Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers.
Eze Dick said the meeting reviewed the state’s political situation, the relative peace, harmony, developmental strides, the rotation of governorship seat among the three senatorial zones, and adoptions of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the 2019 general election by different groups.
