Abiodun warns citizens against protests capable of causing panic, unrest
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has warned the citizens to desist from protests capable of causing unrest and panic.
Abiodun, who issued the warning, following a protest by residents of Itele community, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Council to the Governor’s office, over Kingship tussle, told the community representatives during a meeting to always approach the agencies or ministries concerned with issues challenging their existence and not protest.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, the governor assured his government would not interfere with the traditions and values of any community or ruling house, as the government would always follow rules and due process in choosing Obas in every community in the state.
He said government has not taken any decision on Itele stool, noting that any grey area should be cleared with the ministry.
Speaking on behalf of Itele ruling houses, Mr. Lanre Balogun apologised for staging the protest, saying it was only meant to seek government’s intervention, as one Mr. Ademola Eletu Asorota has been parading himself as a member of Oosa family, but was never a member of the family or any of the other three ruling houses in Itele community.
