Following a strategic partnership with a Chinese technology organisation, the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Adamu Ahmed, has said the institution is committed to strengthening its distance learning programme delivery by leveraging digital technologies.

He stated this during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership between the university and DazzleView Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd, Guangzhou, China.

According to him, collaboration with technology companies could help address one of the most pressing educational challenges facing many developing countries — the growing number of out-of-school children.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that technology-enabled solutions could provide effective pathways for expanding access to quality education for underserved and vulnerable populations.

“This is an area where partnerships between universities and technology companies can make a truly transformative difference,” he said.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Director of Public Affairs, ABU, Mallam Umar Awwalu, Professor Ahmed described the partnership between the university and DazzleView as “an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration in educational technology, research, capacity building, and industry engagement.”

“Together, we can connect knowledge with practical application, transform ideas into solutions, and ensure that technology serves as a powerful tool for inclusion and development,” Ahmed further stressed.

He explained that the MoU on smart education signed between ABU and DazzleView would serve as the foundation for a stronger and more productive relationship between both organisations.

Professor Ahmed also appreciated DazzleView for its warm hospitality and continued support to the university.
He recalled that the company donated a smart classroom facility to the institution in 2022, noting that the gesture had significantly enhanced teaching and learning at the university.

“The facility has demonstrated the transformative power of technology in education,” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed that ABU remains committed to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.

He further stated that the university was placing strong emphasis on entrepreneurship and the commercialisation of research outputs to ensure that discoveries and innovations are translated into practical solutions.
