Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State says the state government will provide an access route for residents of Kagoro Hill.

The governor made the disclosure during a visit to Kagoro hill in Kaura Local Government Area of the state.

Represented by his deputy, Barnabas Bala, the governor said: “We are here to explore the possibility of providing an access route to the top of the Kagoro hill where we have a large population residing there.

“The government would ensure provision of a motorable route to enable people living on the hills gain access to amenities that included schools and hospitals.’’

He said the route would ensure access to social amenities that included a cable link for movement from the top of the hill to the bottom.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Kagoro hill is the ancestral settlement of the Kagoro people.

NAN also recalls that the inhabitants of Kagoro town had lived on top the hill for decades before relocating to the bottom.

More than 50,000 people are said to be still residing on the hill without access to social amenities.
