Achebe urges Ndigbo to think home

The traditional ruler of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, has urged Ndigbo to think about their home and help to develop the South -East, especially Anambra State.

Achebe made the call yesterday in a lecture he delivered at Women’s Development Centre, Awka, entitled , “think Nigeria, invest in Anambra (Aku ruo uno)”, in continuation of events to mark celebration of Anambra at 25.

The occasion was witnessed by prominent sons and daughters of Anambra including the former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, former female governor of the state, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Prof Ben Nwabueze (SAN) among others.

Other prominent citizens of the state, who attended the event were former Ohaneze Ndigbo President General worldwide, Dr. Dozie Ikedife, Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker, Rita Maduagwu, Dr. Cosmas Maduka (Cosharis) and many traditional rulers in the state aamong others.

The Monarch said Anambra State had both the human and economic resources to develop their region such as Japan, Malaysia, Israel, China, India among other developed nations.

According to him, Nnewi, Onitsha and Aba in Abia State should be transformed to become industrial hub in this country instead of waiting for the Federal Government always.
