A’Court affirms Jimkuta as APC senatorial flag-bearer for Taraba South

The Court of Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has declared David Jimkuta as validly elected candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the forthcoming Taraba South Senatorial District election.

Consequently, the three-man panel of the appellate court set aside the decision of the Federal High Court, Jalingo, which dismissed Jimkuta’s suit challenging his substitution with the name of Danjuma Shiddi.

Delivering judgment yesterday, Justice Hamman Barka held that the primary that produced Jimkuta was conducted by National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in accordance with relevant laws.

The panel maintained that only the NWC of the APC has the powers, rights and vires to conduct a valid primary for the party. Jimkuta had won the primary n with 170 votes to Shiddi’s 70 ballots before the former’s substitution with the latter.
