Adebutu urges calm as Lawal charges INEC, PDP to effect judgment

Ladi Adebutu, Ogun PDP gubernatorial
Following the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, which nullified the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, the gubernatorial candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, has appealed to his supporters and the public to remain calm, assuring them he would still be re-elected as a candidate in the next primary.

But one of the displeased governorship aspirants, Mr. Jimi Lawal, said the judgment vindicated his argument that the primaries were faulty.

Lawal said he stands the best chance to win the governorship primary of the party and be declared a candidate if the leadership of PDP had done the needful and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognised the party’s authentic delegates list for the primary.

In a statement, yesterday, Director of Media, Ladi Adebutu/Akinlade Campaign Organisation, Afolabi Orekoya, said while the party awaits the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment, its legal team would review the court’s verdict and necessary actions shall be communicated to the public in earnest.

BUT speaking for the Jimi Adebisi Lawal Campaign Organisation (JALCO), Austin Oniyokor said he hopes that the party and INEC would do the needful by following the court judgment in the conduct of the new primary.

Oniyokor said Lawal remains the candidate to beat in the governorship primary.
