The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC) in Ogun State, Solomon Adeola, has accused the daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Iyabo, of dumping the party because he allegedly refused to refund her campaign expenses in naira and dollars during her governorship bid.

The APC governorship candidate stated this while addressing members of the Council of Iyalajes and Babaalajes (market leaders) in Remoland, yesterday, in his senatorial office in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Council.

Adeola also accused the opposition leaders of chasing selfish ambition to have access to the state’s coffer, stressing that their actions were moved by politics of bitterness and personal ambitions devoid of improving the people’s lives and condition.

Earlier, President of the Council of Iyalajes and Babaalajes in Remoland, Mrs Olufunke Oyelaja, reaffirmed the support of market leaders for Adeola’s governorship ambition.

HOWEVER, former governor of the state and senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Gbenga Daniel, has said that it is only God that can determine the next governor of the state.

Daniel stated this yesterday during the funeral service of his mother-in-law, Mrs Sabainah Ibironke Opawole, held at Ibara Baptist Church, Abeokuta.

He gave the assurance that the next elections in the state would not be violent.

The former governor’s statement followed solidarity songs chanted by supporters of Adeola and Adebutu during the funeral service, where both parties turned the venue into a political floor to campaign for their preferred candidates ahead of the 2027 polls.

He expressed optimism that between the two governorship candidates, one of them would become the next governor of the state but was not sure who would occupy the number two seat in the state.

Daniel, however, called for calm among the political supporters and urged pastors at the service not to panic about the development while appealing to all politicians and their supporters to ensure peace prevails as political activities intensify ahead of the elections.
