Adeyera pioneers sustainable solutions in additive manufacturing, smart technologies

In a bid to address some of the most pressing challenges posed by synthetic materials, Julius Adeyera innovations cannot be over emphasised as it helps to shape the future of manufacturing and smart technologies.

Central to Adeyera’s work is the development of biobased resins for additive manufacturing. Unlike traditional petroleum-based materials, these plant-derived resins are renewable and biodegradable, offering a significant reduction in environmental impact. Engineered for stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing, they deliver exceptional thermal stability and mechanical strength, making them suitable for industrial applications.

Plastic waste poses a grave threat to the planet, with over 2 billion tons of waste generated globally each year, 12 per cent of which is plastic. By 2050, it is estimated that 12 billion metric tons of plastic will accumulate in landfills. Adeyera’s solution addresses this crisis by creating materials that are part of nature’s cycle. “When buried in soil, these resins decompose because they’re made of oils and fats, which microbes readily consume,” Adeyera said.

Additionally, Adeyera’s work with tung oil-based binders for binder jet 3D printing has further advanced the use of renewable materials. By chemically modifying tung oil to enhance curing and bonding capabilities, his team has developed a sustainable alternative to synthetic binders, enabling high-resolution, eco-friendly 3D printing.

But Adeyera’s impact goes beyond additive manufacturing. As a key figure at Mainlogix, a company with operations in Canada and Nigeria, he has contributed to innovations in smart home technology, focusing on healthcare management, energy efficiency, and sustainable automation systems. This holistic approach demonstrates his commitment to integrating technology with practical, user-centered solutions.

His work in sustainable materials and smart technologies positions him as a leader in the engineering world, inspiring others to pursue solutions that harmonise with the planet.
