ADP guber candidate pledges to uplift Kano health sector

Sha’aba gave the assurance in a message to the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kano chapter, during a debate organised by the association on the repositioning of the state’s comatose healthcare system.

The House of Representatives member for Kano Municipal disclosed that he’s perfecting plans with some international hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and development partners to accomplish the objective.

Represented by his running mate, Rabiu Bako, the governorship hopeful noted that he’s working with NMA and respected indigenous medical practitioners across the country to ensure adequate funds for healthcare.

He told the NMA leadership that he would ensure the satisfactory welfare of all healthcare workers.

To curtail the psychiatric problems affecting members of the general public, the ADP candidate assured NMA of building a state-of-the-art psychiatric and rehabilitation centre, and upgrading existing ones.

“I will ensure enabling environment for essential and non-essential health workers and upgrade healthcare centres across the 484 wards in Kano, while uplifting government hospitals across the 44 local councils.

“Besides, I will also build three new general hospitals; one in each of the senatorial zones in Kano, and an ultra-modern teaching hospital and school of Nursing under Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano.

“To reduce the high rate of sickle cell anaemia, I will come up with a sickle cell multidisciplinary clinic and restructure Health Service Management Board, revamping and modernising the Kano Infectious Diseases Hospital,” Shaaban promised.
