Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Gwagwalada council area, Adamu Aliyu has been reportedly killed by gunmen.

Mohammed Usman, secretary of MACBAN, when contacted on Sunday, said gunmen invaded a community around Daku area in Abuja on Thursday evening and killed Aliyu and four other persons.

Usman reportedly said the MACBAN council chairman was on his way back from Niger State when bandits opened fire on the vehicle in which he was travelling.

“They were returning from Izom market in Niger State where they went to sell cows, until just one kilometre to Daku village when the bandits suddenly emerged from the bush and opened fire on the truck, killing the MACBAN chairman and four others,” he was quoted as saying.

Usman added that three people were abducted during the incident, while three other persons who sustained gunshot injuries are currently receiving treatment at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada.
When contacted, Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the FCT police command, said the command was yet to confirm the incident.

These are definitely not the best of times for residents of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and environs, following the sudden increase in armed robbery, kidnapping and vicious assaults in recent days.
The escalation of these violent crimes has become a source of worry for most residents that some are considering relocating from the outskirts to the city centre.
