The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has unveiled plans to use the maiden Agricultural Mechanisation for Export Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA EXPO 2026) to attract investment, promote technology adoption and strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to produce and export agricultural products competitively.

The two day expo, organised by the Agricultural Trade Group and JMT Plus Farms and Agro Allied in collaboration with ACCI, will hold from October 15 to 16, 2026, at the Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, Trade and Convention Centre, ACCI Complex, Airport Road, Abuja. The event will be held under the theme, “Technology and Investment for Agro Export.”

President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, disclosed this in an address delivered on his behalf by the 2nd Deputy President of the Chamber, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday. He said the expo was conceived to reposition Nigeria’s agricultural sector through mechanisation, technology, value addition and increased private sector investment.

Obegolu said the decision to move the event from its earlier proposed date followed consultations with stakeholders across the agricultural value chain, adding that the additional preparation time would enable participating organisations, exhibitors, investors, government institutions, development partners, farmers and researchers to participate more effectively.

According to him, the expo reflects the urgent need to move Nigerian agriculture beyond largely subsistence production towards a modern, technology driven, investment led and export oriented sector. He said the initiative would support national objectives on food security, economic diversification, job creation, industrial development and export growth.

A major highlight of the event will be its official declaration by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, while the President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engr. Jani Ibrahim, OON, mni, is expected to deliver the keynote address titled “Agricultural Export and the Role of Private Capital in Its Value Chain.”

The expo is expected to bring together policymakers, government officials, agribusiness investors, machinery manufacturers, technology providers, farmers, research institutions, financial institutions, agro processors, exporters, logistics operators, development partners and international organisations. It will feature exhibitions of agricultural machinery, precision farming tools, irrigation systems, agro processing technologies, packaging solutions and climate smart agricultural innovations.

The organisers will also host plenary sessions, technical discussions, workshops, business to business engagements and investment forums designed to connect agricultural producers and businesses with investors while facilitating technology transfer and strategic partnerships. A live demonstration arena will allow participants to see modern farming equipment and technologies in operation, while an agro processing and packaging platform will highlight opportunities for local value addition.

The event will further feature a Schools’ Agro Exhibition and Competition aimed at encouraging innovation, creativity and greater youth participation in agriculture.

Obegolu said Nigeria could unlock the enormous potential of its agricultural sector by deepening mechanisation, attracting strategic investment, strengthening value chains and improving market access.

He said such measures would create jobs, strengthen rural economies, improve food security, increase value addition and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in regional and international agricultural markets.

“By deepening mechanisation, encouraging innovation, and mobilising strategic investments, we can unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s agricultural sector, create decent jobs, strengthen rural economies, improve food security, increase value addition, and enhance our competitiveness in regional and global export markets,” he said.

The ACCI president called on ministries, departments and agencies, private sector operators, financial institutions, development partners, research institutions, farmers’ associations and other players in the agricultural value chain to participate actively in the expo.

He also urged the media to support the initiative through extensive coverage, expressing confidence that AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 would become a major platform for agricultural innovation, investment facilitation, technology transfer, capacity development and agro export promotion.
