An aide to the former Imo State governor Emeka Ihedioha has said he did not issue any statement commending Presiden Muhammadu Buhari over the arrest and extradition of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu.

Several media reports had claimed that Ihedioha said he was pleased with the rearrest of the IPOB leader. It was claimed that the former Imo governor described it as a “welcome development”.It was also claimed that Ihedioha issued the statement after attending a meeting of the Arewa Consultative Forum.”Those behind the said press release should hide their faces in shame and seek the face of God for forgiveness,” Iheadioha’s aide AIC Akwarandu said on Sunday.Akwarandu claimed that “those circulating the fake press release are all media aides and media attaches at the Governor Hope Uzodinma’s office.

“The aide also denied that Ihedioha attended the ACF meeting.”Also worthy to note is that Emeka Ihedioha was not at any gathering at any point in recent time where such issues were discussed,” Akwarandu said.”The picture which the fake press release is being circulated with was taken when he paid a condolence visit to the Governor of Adamawa State on August 11th 2019.”
