The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police, Dahiru Mahammud has deployed personnel and security assets to protect residents and places of worship during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Borno and Yobe states.
According to him, the massive deployment of policemen and assets was to ensure a water-tight security in the two states of Northeast.
In a statement released by the Spokesperson of the Yone State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim disclosed: “The AIG for xone 13 headquarters in Maiduguri has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful in Nigeria, particularly those in Borno and Yobe States, on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-Al-Adha celebration.
The SP added that In a bid to ensure a peaceful, safe and hitch-free celebration, the AIG has directed the Commissioners of Police Borno and Yobe State Police Command to deploy adequate personnel and other critical operational assets across the Zone.
Abdulkarim further emphasized that both kinetic and non-kinetic assets should be strategically and appropriately deployed to guarantee the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the Eid festivities.
The AIG also urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and security conscious, and to promptly report any suspicious movement, activity, incident, or unusual situation to the nearest police formation or other security agencies.
He, therefore encouraged Muslim faithful to use the blessed occasion to promote peace, unity, love, tolerance, and lawful conduct in society.
The AIG also reassured the residents of Borno and Yobe States of adequate security throughout and beyond the celebration period, while wishing all Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyous, and a memorable 2026 Eid-Al-Adha celebration.
