Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, yesterday, condemned the resurgence of a cult war in the Idi-Oro and Ayeye areas of Ibadan North West Local Government, which allegedly claimed the life of an innocent girl.

A statement by Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy to the Governor, Mr. Bolaji Tunji, said the governor was pained by the disturbing news, especially coming on the heels of the successful conduct of the state’s first local government election in 11 years.

Tunji said the governor condoled with the family of the victim, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Meanwhile, the governor, who cast his vote at 12:07 p.m. with his wife, Mrs. Florence, at Ward 09, Unit 20, Community Grammar School, Oluyole, Ibadan, said reports from the 33 Local Governments and 35 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of the state indicated the exercise was orderly, free and fair.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Abiodun Odude, who monitored the exercise, said his men were on ground to ensure an orderly conduct.
