Akoko N'East boss disburses N10m empowerment grants

… Urges beneficiaries on sustainable ventures

… Hails Aiyedatiwa on people-oriented policies

The Chairman of the Akoko North East Local Council Area of Ondo State, Olawale Mohammed, has disbursed N10 million to empower 100 women and youths across the local government area as part of a move to boost economic interventions at the grassroots.

The program, which saw 50 women and 50 youths receive N100,000 each, was designed as an investment in human capital development and small business growth within the council area.

The initiative, according to the chairman, will serve existing enterprises and enhance new income-generating ventures among vulnerable demographic groups.

According to Mohammed, the inter-chaired chairman transcends financial assistance, serving as a deliberate commitment to enterprise development and the economic future of Akoko North East.

The disbursement ceremony attracted a cross-section of political office holders, traditional stakeholders, and community leaders.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the chairman urged them to view the grant as a stepping stone towards greater economic self-sufficiency.

He charged recipients to deploy the funds judiciously, either to expand their current business operations or to establish sustainable ventures that would guarantee long-term income streams.

He also expressed gratitude to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, acknowledging his continued support and people-oriented policies, which he noted have been instrumental in bringing meaningful development closer to the grassroots.

Speaking on behalf of stakeholders, former Member of the Ondo State House of Assembly Rasheed Elegbeleye commended Mohammed for his inclusive leadership style and unwavering commitment to grassroots empowerment.

He noted that the intervention would have a multiplier effect on the local economy.

“Alhaji Mohammed Mutiu Olawale has demonstrated that governance at the local level can be impactful and transformative. This program is not just about giving money; it is about giving hope and creating opportunities for our people to thrive,” Elegbeleye said.

For the beneficiaries, the intervention came as a timely relief as they described the grant as a renewed opportunity to grow their businesses, improve their livelihoods, and secure better futures for their families.
