Akpabio distributes 16,800 bags of fertilizers in Akwa Ibom State
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday began distributing 16,800 bags of fertilizers to his constituents in Akwa Ibom State. This initiative, he said, fulfills his promise of providing qualitative and effective representation to the people of Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.
At the flag-off ceremony in Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Akpabio also presented the second tranche of N500,000 cheques to 45 students under the Godswill Akpabio Scholarship Scheme.
He urged beneficiaries of the Godswill Akpabio Back To Farm Initiative (GABFI) to use the fertilizers wisely for better yields in the next harvest season. Akpabio reiterated his commitment to bringing life-changing projects and empowerment to his constituents, regardless of political party affiliation.
He stated, “This is to ensure food security in Nigeria. Hunger knows no political party.”
Akpabio also flagged off the distribution of 16,800 bags of rice, which will be shared across the three senatorial districts in the state.
He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Unoma, Deputy Senate Whip Onyekachi Nweboyin, Senators Eteng Williams and Ita Enang, and NDDC Executive Director of Projects, Victor Antai.
