To ensure accountability and transparency in public service, Akwa Ibom State Government has approved inter-ministerial press briefing commencing today.

The briefing, tagged, “Tracking the Promise,” holds daily at Emerald Event Centre, Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo.

A statement from the state Ministry of Information explains that the briefing is also geared at presenting the stewardship of the Governor Udom Emmanuel Government across the different sectors of the economy to the Akwa Ibom populace, as the administration gradually winds down.

The statement disclosed that commissioners of various ministries have been lined up to interact with the public on the achievements of government in their different sectors, in fulfillment of campaign promises made to the people by the governor under his Completion Agenda.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, whose ministry is coordinating the press briefing, said the briefings would be in series, with seven ministries in the first series, today and tomorrow, while others will appear after the March 18 governorship polls.

Ministries lined up for today, he said, include: Works and Fire Service, Agriculture and Labour and Manpower Planning; while Ministries of Health, Education, Special Duties and Economic Development will feature tomorrow.

Ememobong, who stressed that attendance at the briefings is strictly by invitation, said dons will be invited to present papers on Leadership, Governance and Transparency at the sessions to drive home the message of accountability and transparency in governance.

He added that the briefings would be streamed live on official state website, www.akwaibomstate.gov.ng, and aired through radio stations across the state for members of the public to participate.
