The moves, according to the Commissioner, Ministry of Land and Water Resources, Capt Iniobong Ekong (rtd), were to ensure that persons and corporate institutions with genuine allocation papers are protected from criminal activities of interloper developers and land grabbers.

This is contained in a statement signed by the commissioner for lands and water resources, advising allotees to ensure compliance with the notice in order to avoid unpleasant consequences.

The statement reads: “Notice is hereby given by Akwa Ibom State Government through the Commissioner, Ministry of Lands and Water Resources of government’s intention to recover all encroached plots of land in government residential estates. ”

“All plot owners should submit their allocation letters to the Title Verification Committee in the Ministry of Lands and Water Resources for verification and documentation for authenticity within two (2) weeks from the date of this publication.”
