Aliero distributes N100m worth of items to constituency members

Edo Lawmaker offers scholarship to indigent students
Representative of Kebbi Central Senatorial District, Muhammadu Adamu Aliero, has distributed items worth over N100 million to members of the constituency to alleviate poverty and improve the recipients’ livelihood.

The event, which took place at Aliero’s residence in Birnin Kebbi, was attended by Governor Atiku Abubakar Bagudu, the Deputy Governor, Samaila Yombe Dabai, as well as top government functionaries and politicians.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony, which is the second of its kind, Aliero disclosed that the items include 500 grinding machines, 500 sewing machines, 300 pumping machines, 250 motorcycles and eight brand new cars for each council chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APC).


He disclosed further that the gesture was to improve the living standard of the people of the constituent and assured that it would be a continuous process.

“I have so far provided a number of boreholes, three classroom blocks in each local council and plans are underway to construct 25 additional blocks of classrooms in collaboration with Universal Basic Education Commission (UBE),” he said.

Aliero said in addition to that, 3000 women in the constituency would benefit from financial assistance of N10000 each to engage them in petty trade.

Speaking, Bagudu lauded Aliero’s performance and enjoined other elected officials to follow suite while calling on the beneficiaries to use the items given to them judiciously.

He advised that the wife of the governor, Maimuna Adamu Aliero, should be the overseer of the distribution of the items to ensure fairness in the distribution.

State chairman of the APC, Attahiru Maccido, thanked Aliero for the gesture and assured him of the party’s support towards promoting democracy in the state.

Meanwhile, a representative of Esan South-East constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Festus Igbelekoto, has offered scholarship to100 secondary school students from his constituency up to university level.

The students were also presented with cash rewards to assist them in the payment of their West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) enrolment fees.
