The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma Chapter, yesterday gave the Edo State Government a 30-day ultimatum, effective September 3, 2018 to address the issue of under-funding and reconstitute the Governing Council of the university.

A statement signed by chairperson, ASUU AAU, Ekpoma, Monday Igbafen and Secretary, Aizebioje Coker, said the Edo State Government and university administration are hereby given up to October 1, 2018 to resolve conclusively the long-standing demands of the union, failing which it may resort to industrial action.

The union lamented that the failure by the government to reconstitute the governing council has led to “the absence of the normal check or oversight function(s) expected from governing council on the university administration, particularly on possible arbitrariness and infractions on due process.”
