Amosun endorses Akinlade as successor
Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has finally endorsed Abiodun Akinlade as his preferred candidate for next year’s governorship race.
After a meeting with the 10 Yewa (Ogun West) aspirants, the governor, together with some Yewa elders, chose Akinlade, representing Ipokia Council in the House of Assembly, as the anointed one.
Akinlade will contest the state’s top job with about 15 others from other political parties.
Yesterday, he appealed to other contenders from the district to join hands with him to ensure that a Yewa indigene, for the first time, gets the job.
He promised an inclusive administration. “We will do things together.”
Meanwhile, Lt.-Gen. Jeremiah Useni (rtd.) has said he will restructure Plateau State and end insecurity, if elected governor in 2019.
Useni spoke after he submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat, Wadata House, Abuja on Wednesday.
The former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is promising to provide free education, boost agriculture and attract foreign investors to the state.
