Anglican Bishop urges Buhari, NASS members to cut salaries, allowances


Bishop of Diocese of Egbu, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), near Owerri, Geoffrey Enyinnaya Okorafor, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, and all the lawmakers in the National Assembly to sincerely implement ‘Change Begins with Me’ measures towards recovery from the economic woes Nigeria has found itself, by slashing all their salaries and allowances.

Delivering his 120-page speech tagged, “Presidential Address/Charge” at the third Session of the Seventh Synod of the diocese, held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Eziobodo, Owerri West Local Council of Imo State, yesterday, the cleric, accompanied by seven bishops, expressed disgust over the huge earnings of elected and appointed political office holders.

Okorafor also called for the restructuring of the political structure of the nation, as well as, constitutional restructuring that would guarantee the local councils freedom and the implementation of the last constitutional conference’s recommendation’s.
