The Bishop of Ijesa North Diocese (Anglican Communion), Rt. Revd. Isaac Oluyamo, has called on the people of Osun State to put aside political differences and embrace reconciliation, forgiveness and peace as the state moves toward 2027.

Bishop Oluyamo appealed during a deeply spiritual prayer session at Open Heaven Anglican Church, Ilase-Ijesa.

The service focused on prayers for the leadership, safety, prosperity and unity of Osun State.

In a special intercession for Governor Ademola Adeleke, the bishop congratulated him on his election victory and prayed for a “fruitful and worthy second tenure.”

However, following the killing of an Accord Party (AP) member and aide of the governor, Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as ‘Emir Ajagungbade,’ the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted Adeleke over his directive to immediately transition to a state-run Park Management System, describing it as illegal and unconstitutional.

He asked God to grant the governor “wisdom, strength and divine direction to lead the state with justice, humility and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people.”

The bishop, who also offered prayers for Senator Francis Fadahunsi of Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District, committing his life, family and service to God, passionately appealed to constituents to accept the senator’s apology and “in the spirit of peace and reconciliation, look beyond the disagreements associated with the election.”

He urged them to recognise ongoing efforts in youth empowerment and development, charging individuals and families to bury bitterness and prioritise unity.

The session climaxed with prophetic prayers for “monumental breakthroughs, uncommon favour, open doors and outstanding testimonies” during the ember months.

Oyeyemi, said to be an appointee of Adeleke, was reportedly murdered in a violent power struggle between rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Ile-Ife on Sunday,

In a statement, Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, warned Adeleke against
appointing leadership of motor parks.

However, the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has formally distanced itself from Olamilekan Oyeyemi, the high-profile transport figure known as ‘Emir Ajagungbade’, who was murdered in Osun State at the weekend.

In a statement from its Zone 2 Headquarters in Osogbo, the transport union expressed shock at Oyeyemi’s killing but firmly rejected widespread speculation linking his death to an internal union feud or its membership ranks.

Olayioye Adesina, writing on behalf of the NURTW Zonal Council, said internal checks across state, regional, and national registries confirmed Oyeyemi was never a card-carrying or financial member of the union.
